Features Update and Release Timeline!

Since we've now officially come out of private beta and have opened up invitations to the site to the public, I just wanted to give you an update on the feature we said we were working on. In addition, if you have any feature or content requests, please put them in the comments and we'll get working on them!

1) An integrated craigslist-style Call Board area where you can access ads for production jobs, equipment, and events (in addition to much more!).
****We're working on this, and should have it ready by the middle of May!

2) Some CSS stylesheets examples so that you can customize your profile page even more! (if you know CSS, you can do that right now)
****Some of you have already customized your pages and they look great! However, we'll be rolling out some styles at the end of May for you to pick from.

3) Number of friends each person has and who is currently online.
****You can now see how many friends you have. We're still working on letting you know when they're online for messaging purposes, and should have this going by the beginning of June.


4) Channels for videos. {the easiest way to do this now is make all the videos that you want to have in the same channel have your unique tag (i.e. Preeti'sMusicVideos) }
****Ok, so the easiest way to do this is to actually put your tags in "quotes", like "Preeti Shrivastava", and that will come up as one word. Channels are coming around mid-June!

5) Even better contests and content!
****We're continuing to bring you new opportunities almost every other week! Keep checking back for the next promotion!

just to quickly add to the above list....we'll be rolling out a Groups feature next week, where you can start your own group, and make it public, private, or invite only! This will hopefully help us group together members by expertise (directors, editors, etc), region, and/or interests. We'll also be adding icons soon that you can add to your profile to designate in what capacity you work in the industry! (i.e. director icon for directors, editing icon for editors!)

We're also working on a feature that will let you generate a thumbnail for your video so it doesn't show up black with the first frame!

I was going to ask when we would be able to choose thumbnails, that I feel is extremely important, ecspecially when it comes to contest and voting.

Hi Spence, we're hoping to have this fixed right after the MVPA Awards, along with a new way to enter contests and a better voting process!

just to clarify a current feature, if you're watching a video in our player and it seems fuzzy or pixelated, just click on "resize video" and it should put it in its orginal and (better!) viewable form!

and one more thing! (i should probably make this a whole new post instead of all these comments...) we'll be adding a search feature at the beginning of June so that you'll be able to search members to see who are "music video fans", "music video industry professionals" etc. Right now our member search only does it by name, but we're working on keyword searches so that you can pull up location, description, even people listed by their favorite directors!
